CLUB MAJOR PAIRS FINAL 24TH MARCH 2019 ..
The first final of the year provided a gripping finish to set the standard for finals to come . Defending champions Stephen Munce & Laurie McLean v Phil Carrett & Ken O’Day . A good start after 8 ends by the 2 M’s saw them lead 14 to 6 , with quite a few in the crowd thinking they would go on to win . Ends 9 thru 11 saw Carrett & O.Day pick up 9 shots to take the lead back . both teams traded ends and it was 20 all after 18. Munce & McLean edged ahead 22 to 21 with 1 end to play . Needing 2 to win Ken stepped up with his last bowl to draw the 2nd shot they needed , Lauries last bowl was astray and the final score of 23 to 22 went to the betting underdogs . Congrats to both teams who entertained the crowd with some skilled bowling.
